I brought one of the paintings to the factory today where the frames are being put together. One frame is almost done, the only thing missing is coloring it and stitching it to the painting.

Finally weekend! Tomorrow the plan is to paint :) I've also applied for a two day course in photography for next weekend, but I still don't know if there's space left. I'm crossing my fingers Ill be able to go! Photography is very important for my art. I use to take inspiration from various pictures and sources when I create my hyperrealistic paintings. The better the photo, the more realistic the painting will be. Therefore, I'd love to learn more about how to use the manual functions on the camera. Found some more Newton pictures on the phone :) Sexist? Well, can't disagree. Interesting? Hell yes! This is my contribution to the Thursday theme "summer treasures".I don't have my colors at home so I had to be creative :) When I was working in Zaragoza many years ago we did a lot of origami. I even learnt how to fold Nils Holgersson on his goose (Swedish children's book character). Can't remember how to do that though. What you need: a piece of paper and some crayons! Don't use oil pastels as I did because they smudge too much. And then you need to do some folding and unfolding too of course..:) This morning I went to buy some ledge (don't know if it's the correct word?) to make my own frames for my paintings. They are going to be pretty thin and very simple this time. I'll paint them black (or maybe white) and the deadline is next Friday, then Ill show you the result. It is very important to get the right angle in the corners, but I'll get some help to cut the pieces and to glue them together. I think this might be the busiest month of the year for me, but as it seems, October will be much calmer and therefore I've booked a trip to London. :D Have to pick up some stuff there, and more important visit all my friends. It's becoming a trend that people from Madrid move there. When I went to London in May I visited Tate Modern and the butterfly exhibition hosted by the National History museum - 5 of 5 points. This time, hopefully I'll have time to pay V&A a visit and also to do some shopping in the painting store Atlantis. I'm running out of colors (I'm in great need of more blues).
Have you ever seen a face in the sky or in the water? The phenomenon to see faces, humanizing things and giving them a "soul" is called physiognomization. When I was working in Malta 2007 we stopped by this tree which you'll find next to the road when you drive from Attard to Medina. It resembles Jesus on the cross, doesn't it! The Maltese people are known to be even more Catholic than the Vatican, so you can imagine what they think of this tree. The phenomenon to give a face and to humanize things is also well documented in books and in the art world, for example in fantasy and children's books and in surrealism. Other amazing examples from the nature: Another English example. Here they call the phenomenon Simulacrum. (If you click on each image you'll get to the source.)
This week's Thursday theme is Summer treasures (sommarskatter). @annasynnero is hosting and the hash tag is #torsdagstema on Instagram. There are still some days left to think about what to create... Until then, here are some inspirational pictures :) All pictures are from the Ibiza trip: full moon, wonderful villas, boat trip to Formentera. So nice to go through them when the weather is horrendous here (grey skies and rain). Now I'm off to Örebro. Have a lovely start of the week <3 We took the horses for a very short ride today. Or basically, I sat up on Lily without a saddle for the first time, and we took a couple of rounds back and forth on the parking. She had her fly cap on because the flies disturbs her so damn much. And yes, she can see through the net :) Also, I watched some of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games before, very intriguing (Sweden got a forth place). What do you think of this fence, it definitely made me smile :)
