If you are lucky, people will stop and study your painting. But in most cases you only get one brief shot. It is like the importance of the handshake and the first impression when you meet a new person.
At the same time as the first impression is important, it is nice to give something extra for those who stay and really look at your painting. It might be fine details or a story you want to tell e.g.
This is the reference for my latest painting. I've carved a bracelet out of an orange. Luxury consumption gone DIY. Looking at the first bracelet, would you have gotten the reference without looking at the second bracelet? Basically is it a winning first handshake or do you need some time to get it! Hope people will have patience and give the painting more than a first glance :)
