Reflections about the content of this blog

*This blog is primarily about art. I want to share my thoughts about art, exhibitions I visit, painters I admire and all other kinds of stuff related to art. But first and foremost I want to share my own creations and the "behind-the-scenes" process from idea to finished product. You watch my paintings for a few seconds, but I work with them for hours, days and months. That is what I want to show.

*Second, you'll see glimpses of other parts of my life. "You cannot separate the art from the artist" (who said that?). "I don't believe in art, I believe in artists" (Duchamp). Yep, I believe that by sharing things about me you'll be able to appreciate the art and understand my point of view at an additional dimension.

*It is actually the second point which is the hardest part. What and how much should I share about my personal life with you? For example, I am working out more or less five times a week (I run and lift weights basically). As you can see it is a big part of my life even though I have given it little credit here.  The main reason for not bringing it up more is because I don't want to loose focus from "art forum" to "fitness blog". Also, my goal with working out is more about staying healthy and finding a balance in life, it is not about becoming shredded as fuck or to win a bikini competition. Another thing, I am not a very inventive chef, but since people are interested in seeing what others eat I'll post some more photos of that too. Further, I've shared some vacation photos with you before and I will definitely keep doing that.

What I will not do is to start publishing photos of my friends and family (with exemption of the animals). I have posted a couple of photos with other people in it but I've always cleared it with them in beforehand and Ill continue with that policy. I don't want anyone to end up on the internet without their permission.

If you are interested in knowing something about me, write a comment or email to info@elinerikson.com and I might bring it up here :)

The art of gardening

I got this little plant for my birthday, it means a lot because my friend has actually planted the seed herself. I am hopeless with plants but I've actually managed to keep it alive.

And best of all, today I noticed the new flowers!! Welcome little new life :)

I have this really ambitious idea in my head of having lots of herbs, plants and flowers at home, but realistically speaking I know it ain't going to happen. Would slowly kill them all! Better to focus my energy towards one or a few directions at a time. Creating this green and blooming home just has to wait. But until then, at least I'll do my best to water this little baby.

Batching

Two forms of batching; food prepping and coffee. I like the ideas of batching even though it doesn't work with all types of food (like fruit salad). Best thing; batching can be applied to all parts of life, for example to pay all the monthly bills at the same time.

Why batching? Because you save so much time! Time that could be spent on other stuff such as painting :)

Now you've got to see what I eat too :) One of my standard meals; potatoes, chicken and veggies. Yep, not that special I know.

More world map

And once upon a time we were all one...

Imagen

If this was now we could have taken the car (or even better the bike) to the other side of the world.

Now the continents have separated from each other like shattered pieces of broken glass. It's like a scarred wound. We cannot mend it but we can live with it and make the best of the situation. What would we do to keep the world together without planes, boats, telephones? We're quite inventive I must say. If there's a will there's a way to overcome any problem!

Still working on ideas for postales desde el limbo as you can see :)

Unfinished work

I have a couple of unfinished canvases stored at the art room at Brogårn. This is one of them. I couldn't bare having them staring at me at home hehe :) I am waiting for my guts/intuition to tell me what to do with them, but all I hear is silence. The only feeling I have is that this one will take years to finish. Or I'll rip it apart only to save a 5th part of it. Time will tell :)

Sometimes I have quite a complicated relationship to my paintings. Sure I'm not the only one!

Start of the underlayer. Now it's completely covered with oil though.

Ths is a road I walk or run every other week. Same place - summer versus autumn :)

Ibiza art

Even though I've been three times to Ibiza I've never watched any art there. I've heard that a lot of artists go to Ibiza to work, and I could imagine why - the island is heavenly beautiful. The inspiration must be flowing! A dream would be to visit or even paint in a studio there. If you have any suggestions, email me :) info@elinerikson.com

They have a contemporary museum on the island, and this summer they are hosting an exhibition with one of Spain's most famous painters Miró. (Miró had a strong connection to one of the neighbor islands Mallorca). I found the pictures at the Museum's homepage here.

Continuing on the theme 'the world map'. Tried with fruit and veggies, naaa, doesn't feel right.

A carrot as South America:

I've also tried with flowers and leaves. Didn't turn out great but ill continue exploring that idea. I really like the thought of more peace and flower power to the world...it's a nice symbolism to illustrate the world with flowers. I'll keep updating you about the process!

I got this really great ticket and I couldn't let it pass me by; I'm going to Ibiza in August. I had been working on a post with pictures from there but it all disappeared. Uff. Going to give it a new try later...Ibiza is one of my favorite places :)
