I love reading books, I got to borrow this one and it is about something that lies close to heart - how you can heal your body by eating right. I think the term 'superfood' has been overused and has lost some of its effect thanks to bad marketing. But I do believe you can prevent illnesses, and alleviate symptoms by eating 'right'. Probably even some kinds of cancer.
I've attacked one of the bigger canvases now. Feels great to have started on this one to be honest. After two layers of gesso I'm going over it with a colorful layer of acrylic to set the standards for the oil. As background sound I'm watching shark tank. What a wonderful series! It is about entrepreneurs who present their businesses to potential investors, 'the sharks'. The ideas involve everything from renting hot caddy girls for a golf tournament to a beard softener product for the guys. The most fascinating thing is to listen to the people's stories. Many of them have given up so much to follow their entrepreneurial dream (sold their houses, worked day and night, been living paycheck to paycheck etc). But most fascinating is the way they pitch and how much passion you can see in their eyes when they talk about their products. That passion, drive and determination is something we all can learn from, no matter what we do in life. I'll carry you home. It is not dry yet, that's why the black parts look a little strange. This is a photo I took of my mom and Maggie last summer. She didn't know I was photographing and I love the feeling and the message. Maggie was a little puppy and she didn't have half the energy she has today hehe (now she is more of a tornado), hence the royal treatment. My mom is a very caring person, especially when it comes to animals and for her birthday I wanted to paint something that's 100% aligned with her life and personality. I've never painted anything for her before so this is something very special. Mom, I love you! <3 Here comes some major home decoration inspo. We celebrated my mother's birthday yesterday at a magical place called Bergs Säteri. The house is filled with unique objects and the atmosphere is warm and cosy. We had the whole house all by ourself and you can also rent rooms and stay overnight. Old rocking horses <3
Today was the last day to visit Sara's exhibition, arrangera by Kristinehamns Konstförening. Colorful, playful and with lots of intriguing elements such as fingers, patterns and globes intertwined on her canvases. I liked her aquarelles the best. This was another favorite, painted in inverted colors (blue and orange, black and white). If you are interested in her art you can browse her stuff at Konstagenten! I got this runner's high when I ran on the treadmill today. The endorphins just kept coming and everything felt so easy. Sooo I decided to make the inscription to the half marathon in Karlstad in June...now there is no return ;) I'm reading Arnold Schwarzenegger's biography Total Recall and you get a new sense of how far you can push your limits (ok he took anabola but still he worked out two times a day during several hours, day in and day out). It feels good to have a goal again. My main focus when it comes to working out is to be healthy and that it should be fun, but I think my physics allow me to push just a little further without breaking myself down instead. She only had to find out how to catch them. Thursday theme this week: accuracy. That's very much needed when you paint a portrait. I thought I would have finished it by now but I still have to fix it. It won't be picture perfect but as always, the most important thing for me is to capture the core essence of the moment and the person. <3 By the way, I love her hair accessory. I got into a really good flow painting today. Think about how valuable our hours are - time vs money - in one sense we buy our hours, so we have to make sure to spend our time wisely.
