...was the theme for today's photo challenge. I made muffins for the croquis session, they looked kind of ok before hitting the oven, then they got a little burnt and I had to make some more... Luckily enough for the participants another person brought cookies :)
I was going to publish something more private but I changed my mind.. So this will do for today's photo challenge: crap! Instead of using a palette made out of wood, I use these paper palettes. I bought them in Spain but I'm sure there are something similar in the art stores here. When you're done with one of them you can just throw it away and next time you're about to paint you basically start on a new one. This way you do not need to clean! The only downside I've found is that it is white, many artists prefer another color of the palette. Until today I havent been sure if there was enough interest for the croquis event tomorrow - but we are more than 8 people now so we will go through with it! We are going to be at Brogårdsskolan which is great because it means more space, good lighting, easels etc. I'll snap a couple of pictures for the blog (not of the model though, you have to come to see that). 2-minute sketches. No time for details, you'll never ever tell who the model is just by looking at the drawings :) Todays photo challenge: textile. Back in the days we made togas out of sheets, remember? I'm about to fix a couple of white curtains, but I might start using them as dresses instead ( or not...) I took a run home to my family's place earlier today. I still have some stuff left at their house, a couple of paintings amongst other things. I took the time to fold some corners on one of them. I think it is kind of tricky to get a good result and Ive tried a couple of techniques. The way Ive done it here is to keep all the fabric (instead of cutting it off) and fold it several times. The end result gets very thick, on the other hand I imagine that it is an advantage to keep as much as possible if you need to restretch the canvas in the future. Compare this to a "cleaner cut" canvas that was stretched already when I bought it: Today's photo challenge: my bedroom. Ok, this is not my bedroom, it is an hotel...I've been sleeping at at least 11 different hotels last year, from 5 stars to hostels. Except from painting and working out, traveling is the best! Also, traveling is a great source of inspiration for my creative side. Like the painting I've named Thankyou Mr. Pilot. Another painting I started on some weeks ago is inspired by a quote from a person in Las Vegas. I'll post the story when the painting is done. You can see a part of the painting below. I've sent one of the photos (from Sunday) on test printing, and I will probably have it in the beginning of next week. It is a giclee print on fine art paper and it is super exciting to see how it turns out. In the picture: two lithographs to the left and one poster on a shiner paper to the right. All of them by Bengt Olson. Today's photo challenge: seven. Would have loved it to be something artsy, but I've spent my entire day at Fitness24Seven, so my contribution will be a gym picture - one of those people use to love to hate... Going to the gym is my salvation. Mostly I work out alone but at least I am alone amongst other people. Also I have a girl friend working out with me on Saturdays. Painting on the other hand is an interest none of my friends share. There are so many decisions to be made all the time. Even a small decision like how you want your signature to look like can take a long time to figure out. I have a short signature with only my name initials, and a longer one with my sirname included, but this is the one I think looks the best on the canvas and feels the most like "me". Today's photo challenge: buttons. I don't know what you call the things you adjust the height of the easel with, so lets call them buttons :) |
