I've read a little about cadmium and its effect on health and the environment. It is a heavy metal and should be treated with precaution (in higher dosis it can cause cancer and even though the risk is small I don't want to take it). All famous paint brands have cadmium red and yellow because the color is so intense/clear, quite transparent and hard to replace with something that has the same qualities.
I am definitely not going to buy another tube of cadmium. I already have two cadmium reds which I love...and I thought I had a cadmium yellow but it turned out is was an Azo yellow (good!).
The problem is what to replace the reds with. I'm going to give Azo red a try because I already have it at home. If the name of the tube is cadmium red hue, it seems to be ok to buy it, because hue means they've mixed two colors together to make it look like cadmium red (that is how I've understood it anyways).
