Some doodling today. This is one of my favorite motives, especially when I feel the need to be creative but don't have the patience to get into details. Here are some reasons why I like it:
* Few bold colors create immediate strong effects.
* Have you ever kissed a mirror? It never gets perfect. Watercolor is great when you want to create something imperfect and organic like this.
* You can improvise and there is no need to outline the forms with a pencil first.
* It is relaxing to let the brush work for you and surprise you! It is exciting cause you never know exactly how the result will be.
The mental obstacle to open the color box gets so much smaller when you know it is just for fun.
If you also find it hard to start, try something like this: A simple motive, few colors, try different amounts of water in relation to the amount of pigment and just enjoy!
At Tate Modern, London, they had this computer for doodling:
Then they showed the artwork on a big screen for all the visitors to see. Definitely not my best work but it was great fun!
