A great way to get your creativity going is to browse through google images. For one of my paintings I'll add a pattern to the background. I already know which one to use, but out of curiosity I googled "patterns" to see what came up.
Isn't the wall paper with flowers on the middle row to the left gorgeous? As well as the peacock feathers on the lower row second to the right :)
