Prussian blue is one of my favorite colors, counting both the color and the consistence. I think that when artists have "a blue period" or "a red period" it is not only because of the color itself, it also has to do with them liking to work with that specific color in terms of transparency, consistency and mixing qualities. Since colors are made by for example herbs, metals or in a laboratory it will never be the same thing working with a cadmium red as a prussian blue (which is made synthetically).
