First I started to outline the butterfly with a pencil. (This is actually another butterfly, I forgot to take a pic of the other one.)

Next step is the first layer. I've used acrylics.

Here I've applied the first layer of oil of the background.

For the details I've used a very thin brush.

Here I've applied oil on the butterfly too. In total I've applied 1 layer of acrylics and 1,5 layers of oil. What I mean by that is that it wasn't necessary to cover the whole painting in oil two times. I just needed to make some alterations, color adjustments, highlights and shadows at certain places.

This butterfly is actually turned towards you. Do you see his stomach?

The green background is one of my favorites and I've used the same technique before. I love that blurry feeling <3

Now I'm off to my Spanish lessons. Happy painting everyone! :)
