Last year the chairman of the art association in my town past away. Peter Westerdahl was a real art lover and his walls at home were covered with paintings from the floor to the ceiling. This weekend his family had a vernissage in his home to show and sell some of the art pieces from his collection. It was a very special feeling to step inside his house and he was most certainly a man of great taste, may he rest in peace <3
I happened to find a lithograph I really liked and now it lives with me instead. The artist, Vera Nilsson, is very special to me; I've seen her work at Moderna Museet in Stockholm and she is famous for her oil paintings of children. I was immediately drawn to them (you might understand why looking at the one below). Not only do I love her art, I think she is a very good role model for other female painters. For example, she was the first woman to become a member of Konstakademin (The Art Academy in Sweden) in the 20th century.

Vera was a strong woman, an expressionist and she wasn't afraid to use color. The lithograph I bought looks like this and there is certainly nothing dull about it. I will get a new passepartout for it, but since that little blue figure was begging me to place him on the wall immediately, I just had to find a spot the first thing I did when I came home.
